onTAP - Parallel Port Driver Options

In addition to the onTAP® USB Programming and Test Cable, onTAP offers three parallel port driver options.

To change the default driver in the onTAP toolbar go to: /PC Port/Parallel Port Options.

The Driver Options window displays:

currently active parallel port.

Supported JTAG parallel port cables
	Insight Electronics ( Xilinx compatible)
	Lattice isp JTAG
	Universal Scan
	Xilinx parallel III
	Xilinx parallel IV

Parallel-Port-Drivers

Click to select a new default driver.

Optional Driver

Also known as the Jungo drivers. These are the default drivers for onTAP that are loaded automatically. The Jungo drivers are the same drivers used by Xilinx for its parallel III cable.

onTAP Driver 1

Some non-standard parallel ports do not accept the default Jungo drivers. This is an unbuffered version of the PortTalk.sys driver, that is to be specified only when the buffered I/O driver and the Jungo drivers fail to operate properly on non-standard parallel ports.

onTAP Buffered I/O (DEFAULT)

This driver is also a variant of the PortTalk.sys driver but uses buffered I/O processing to increase test speed by 3-4x over the other two drivers..

This driver is now the default driver witin onTAP as of release build 3586.

These drivers support all standard jtag parallel port cables, including:

Xilinx parallel III cable
Xilinx parallel IV cable
Altera ByteBlaster MV
Lattice programming cable
Universal Scan cable
Insight Electronics cable (compatible with Xilinx Parallel III and parallel IV cable
Any other standard cables that meet the same electrical standards.
